WHY IT MATTERS

Around six million children in the U.S. will lose a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver by the time they reach 18. These grieving youth are more susceptible to mental health issues, academic struggles, and adverse long-term physical and financial consequences than their peers who haven’t experienced such loss. If not properly addressed, childhood grief can significantly hinder a child’s future.

Yet, with the right interventions and a strong support system, grief can be transformed into a source of incredible resilience.

Our Mission

To empower grieving persons to overcome challenges, embrace vulnerability, and build community through a holistic blend of activities, creative expression, and empathy.

CAMPERS

Surrounded by peers who share similar experiences, campers find a safe and supportive environment to express their emotions. Through creative activities, outdoor adventures, and heart-to-heart talks, they discover new ways to remember their loved ones and find hope again. With new friends and lots of smiles, campers leave feeling stronger, understood, and ready to embrace life’s next chapter.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers play a vital role in creating a safe and uplifting space for campers. Through leading activities, offering a listening ear, and simply being there, you’ll help kids and teens navigate their grief while having fun. It’s a rewarding experience where you’ll build meaningful connections, make a real difference in young lives, and be part of a supportive community.

What Our Community Is Saying

“My experience at camp was amazin. I was able to not only acknowledge, but also move through the grief I was feeling from losing my older brother Wes. I made wonderful friends and we did fun activities each day. It also brought me closer to my older sister, Chelsea, who was grieving with me. Camp Koah made us stronger and I’ll always cherish the time I had there.”

Summer - camper

“I feel so fortunate to have found this camp to help my children understand their grief as they learn to live without their daddy. I love that it is a safe place where they can gather together and share with others something so terribly heartbreakingly personal, and be able to find ‘koah.”

Diana - parent

“I really enjoyed being a counselor because not only did it give me a chance to reflect on my own grief journey and what both my parents meant to me, but it allowed me to help others with their own relationship with grief. On top of that it was so much fun and I made so many new friends!”
